Threads of Conscience Tree Free Cards

An alternative greeting card that dosen't cost the Earth. Greeting cards made from elephant poo card and paper, hemp card and 100%post consumer recycled card. The hemp card comes from HempWa in Western Australia. The 100% post consumer recycled card comes from Ecocern. The elephant poo card and paper comes from EcoMaximus in Sri Lanka which has provided the elephants, their carers and community a business enterprise and industry which is sustainable. Import Ants are my Australian suppliers. Talk about recycling. The alternatives to tree paper never cease to amaze me. We are doing irreparable damage to our planets heart and lungs every hour of everyday, with such disregard its shameful. With such a diverse and available array of tree free alternatives, I will always look to use these alternatives as opposed to tree paper logged and milled from virgin forrests.
Design can change.

SurfAid International

A long time ago I decided that I wanted to make a positive difference in the world. One way that I knew I could do this would be to raise awareness for good causes. The way that I could do this was to develop a product range that allowed me to make mention of those good causes. Greeting cards. Not just any greeting cards, but environmentally friendly and sustainable cards that don't cost the earth. I knew I wanted to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. So on the back of each card I make you will find my message which explains who I am and what I do and the cause I would like to support and raise awareness for one such organization is http://www.surfaidinternational.org/
is an organization that is changing lives for the better every day. A non profit organization that is dedicated to alleviation of human suffering through community based health programs. Since the 2004 Tsunami and the 2005 Nias earthquake SurfAid has provided disaster relief and is committed to developing long term sustainable community health through prevention of treatable disease and community education. They deserve and need all the help and support they can get so please check them out'

Planetwise Paper

We are a father and daughter partnership, based in Hobart, Tasmania.
Our supplier is a recognised International Fair Trade cooperative that specialises in producing handmade and recycled paper products.
There are 125 cooperative members involved in the process, most of which work in production. 60% of the total team are women with limited opportunities and are from local villages in Nepal.
The work has provided working opportunities and regular income for them, providing not only basic support like food and housing but also opportunities for education for their children.
The cooperative allocates 40% of their profit to their sister organization which is involved in girl’s education, providing scholarships for more than 125 girls, physically supporting five schools, active in AIDS and environmental awareness.
Our business relationship with them provides essential foreign income. By supporting us, you are supporting them in their endeavours to support themselves and their community and improve educational opportunities for their young.
You will find our current range of designs on our website, at http://www.planetwisepaper.com.au
We look forward to supplying you with environmentally friendly paper products.

Gift Giving

In a world were so few have so much and so many have so little.

We have indulged long enough in the oasis that we can just continue to live beyond our means and ignore the needs of those less fortunate.

The depletion of natural resources brought about by the greed of governments, corporations and various individuals, has become the fuel which has powered the mass production and consumerism of modern societies.

This has left this world with an unhealthy balance and for a great many an unlivable inbalance of power and wealth, which to the extreme has us living in a world were a child dies every 3 seconds.

How do we continue to justify and excuse the extravagance in our lives when we know without a doubt that in our world there are those that will live their whole lives in the misery of the neglect of their basic human rights to food, water and shelter.

One way in which we can be more aware is in the traditions of gift giving, which without a doubt is one of our greatest displays of overindulgence.

In a world were 80 billion dollars is spent worldwide for the sole purpose of a holiday that was originally marked on the calendar as a religious celebration of life, we have created a monster that leaves behind a trail of waste and consequences that we can no longer afford to ignore or remain indifferent to.

The throwaway nature of our societies is no more present and obvious than at Christmas time.

It has long been the time to shift the focus, time, energy and money from mass productivity of goods, trades and services that, use, abuse and destroy our planet, our environment, our people and our animals in one form or another.

By putting our energy and focus into creating a world that is sustainable and fair and encouraging those around us to do the same, there is hope.

Teaching our children, the future generations of adults and leaders to come, the value in the principle that less is more. Reminding ourselves and teaching our children that its is in the giving that we receive.

1 Million Women powering action on climate change

I am proud to be a part of a new movement of Australian women of all ages and backgrounds - from school girls to celebrated elders, and local community stalwarts to business and political leaders - will unite today to drive practical action on climate change.

The 1 Million Women campaign will engage, empower and motivate women to cut carbon pollution in their daily lives by demonstrating how individuals can slash their emissions by one tonne each via home, food, shopping, transport, travel and more.

The goal is to stop 1 million tonnes of CO2 pollution from entering the atmosphere - the equivalent to taking 250,000 cars off the road for 12 months - enough pollution to fill 2.1 billion wheelie bins or 20 billion balloons.
